WILD FIRES
Wildfires are one of the main disturbances for terrestrial ecosystems. In environments that have been significantly altered by human activity, such as the Alps, the occurrence and impact of forest and prairie fires are strongly related to human intervention and human settlements.
In this context, we have developed methods for mapping wildfire in forested area by high-resolution satellite data and conduct on-going investigations of the possibility to exploit MODIS (MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) time series for monitoring post-fire vegetation resilience.
